Military History, Cultural Heritage and Natural Beauty

On the first day of our journey we will sail from Sibenik to Primosten. Sibenik is a wonderful historic gem that showcases Venetian-style architecture and idyllic natural beauty. Before arriving in Primosten we will visit Zlarin Island. This small, unspoiled island is renowned for its pristine nature, red corals, secluded beaches, and rich historic sites. Due to Zlarin’s geographical position, it holds an important role as the St. Anthony Channel gatekeeper and the guardian of Sibenik. It is most famous for its unique culture, based upon harvesting of red corals and processing them into jewelry and ornaments. Hiking, cycling, and rock climbing are also popular activities, with enjoyable trails that pass through spectacular viewpoints, olive groves, and vineyards. We will now visit Zlarin Island’s Magarna Bay. The area is completely unspoiled, and tour members can enjoy a refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters, surrounded by spectacular natural scenery. Our day will conclude at the picturesque seaside town of Primosten located in the south of Croatia. The magnificent circular old town of Primosten was once an island up until the 16th century, guarded by stone towers, walls, and a moveable bridge that connected it to the mainland. After the bridge was replaced by an embankment, the town became part of the mainland and therefore became a peninsula. It is one of the top holiday destinations in Croatia, attracting visitors with its unique architecture and spectacular scenery. There is lots to see and explore here, such as wandering through the ancient streets, visiting the Church of St. George, admiring the Our Lady of Loretto landmark on Gaj Hill, or visiting wonderful beaches such as Raduca Beach. This small town also has a vibrant nightlife. Tour members can find a variety of venues, from high-energy clubs to relaxing cocktail bars and restaurants.

Today's journey will take us from Primosten to Solta Island. Solta Island is an island of Illyrian legends, ancient history, medieval poetry, rich traditions, honey production, and wonderful beaches. At only 19 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide, the island is home to eight charming villages. While touring the island, we will visit Solta Island’s Stomorska. As one of the main towns, it is a must-see when visiting Solta. Home to the oldest port on the island, with its history dating back to the 16th century. The main attraction here is the picturesque waterfront, where Dalmatian stone houses, fishing boats, fabulous restaurants, cafes, and small shops can be found. Moving on, we will visit Drvenik Veli Island. Stone houses, pine trees, olive groves, and palm trees can be seen, many of which date back to the 15th century. Today, the island is home to just one settlement with a population of 150 people, so it remains a tranquil and unspoiled natural destination. The final destination on today's tour is &nbsp;Drvenik Veli Island’s Krknjasi Bay (Blue Lagoon). Known as the Blue Lagoon due to its spectacular crystal-clear aquamarine waters, which create a tranquil and majestic atmosphere. The bay is also home to Krknjas Beach, which is made up of small pebbles, and an abundance of pine trees creating natural shade. It is a perfect destination for swimming and snorkeling. The amenities here are limited however a few restaurants with small docks can be found. This location is not far from the main town, but it is far enough away to escape the noise and crowds of summer tourists.

Today's adventure will lead us from Solta Island to Hvar Island. Hvar Island is referred to by many as the Queen of the Croatian Islands and one of the top 10 most beautiful locations in the world. Its rich variety of history, culture, architecture, nightlife, and natural treasures make this destination a tourist hotspot. While exploring the island, we will visit Hvar Island’s Stari Grad, which is the oldest town in Croatia. The town's stunning landscape is picturesque and postcard-worthy. With a thousand-year-long history, there are many significant sights to see, such as quaint narrow streets, a Dominican monastery, small squares, museums, churches, ancient stone houses, and the castle of Tvrdalj. At our next location tour members will have the opportunity to sit back and relax. Hvar Island’s Tiha Bay is a hidden gem, consisting of many smaller bays offering a peaceful retreat for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. We will now visit Hvar Island’s Hvar town, which is the capital and largest settlement on the island. There are many things to do and see here, such as admiring its Venetian architecture, visiting the largest square in all of Dalmatia, exploring historical sites or taking a stroll along Hvar’s iconic waterfront, which is among the most exclusive on the Adriatic. Moving on, we will now travel to Brac Island. This popular summer destination is known for its spectacular scenery, charming towns, and wide variety of tourist attractions such as Vidova Gora, Dragons' Cave, and the Blaca Monastery. Many historical landmarks can also be seen, including the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Supetar Cemetery, and the Dominican Monastery. Today's tour will conclude at &nbsp;Brac Island’s Zlatni Rat Beach. The triangular-shaped beach, also known as the Golden Horn, stretches out over 500 meters on the south side of the island. For our adventurous members there are many activities on offer such as windsurfing and inflatable water activities.

Today's journey will guide us from Hvar Island to Vis Island. Until 1989, Vis Island was off-limits to tourists due to the army base that resided here. The island has two small towns, both of which are situated at the foot of two large bays. Vis town lies on the northeast side of the island, and the capital of Komiza town is in the southwest. Tour members can find many mysterious bays, underwater caves, an archaeological museum, and shipwrecks to explore. The island is a gastronomic hotspot, where many fresh fish restaurants can be found serving local delicacies. Our final destination on today's tour will lead us to Vis Island’s Rogacic Bay, which is a popular location for Blue Cruise tours due to its sheltered anchorage sites and calm sea waters. Along with being an aesthetically pleasing natural oasis, this area is a historical treasure. During the Second World War, Rogacis Bay's waters and hillsides were used as a hideout for submarines by the military. Within the bay lies the hundred-meter-long Submarine Military Tunnel, which was constructed to serve a very important purpose. Also known as the Jastog submarine cave, today it can be explored by all who visit. It is a magical place to enjoy an evening of swimming and diving in turquoise waters, surrounded by thriving natural vegetation and an abundance of history.

We will now sail from Vis Island to Zlarin Island. We briefly visited this location on the first day of our tour, and today tour members can explore Zlarin Island in more detail. It &nbsp;is the third largest and one of the six inhabited islands that lie within the Sibenik archipelago. With approximately 2,700 hours of sunshine per year, it is also one of the sunniest in the Adriatic. As a car-free island, it allows visitors to enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The best way to explore this small destination is on foot or by hiring a bicycle. Interesting attractions worth visiting include; The Coral Museum, discovering the remains of Roman and Illyrian settlements, along with ancient churches such as Our Lady of Raselj, which dates back to the 15th century, and the Church of Maria’s Assumption, which dates back to the 18th century. For those who enjoy hiking, there are many trails to choose from. The most popular is the trail leading to Klepac, which is the highest point on the island. At 174 meters above sea level, it provides spectacular views. As for beaches, there are several sandy and pebbled areas to choose from, many of which are surrounded by thriving vegetation, providing natural shade, a tranquil atmosphere, and crystal-clear waters that are perfect for swimming.

Today's journey will guide us from Zlarin Island to Skradin. Skradin is a small town situated in a protected bay on the Krka River, where freshwater mixes with salt water from the Adriatic Sea. The most popular attractions here for tour members to explore are the picturesque harbor and the wonderful old town. It is a charming destination and a great place for those looking for an exceptional Croatian experience. As one of the oldest cities in Croatia, the historical center is a protected monument because of its rich historical heritage. While exploring, tour members can visit Skradin Old Town, which is very popular due to its wonderful squares, ancient cobbled streets, and historical buildings that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Other attractions worth visiting here include the Church of the Mother of God, complete with a high bell tower from the 18th century, and the Orthodox Church of St. Spiridon. Many excellent restaurants, lovely cafes, small boutiques, wine shops, and souvenir markets can also be found. Skradin is also referred to as the gateway to Krka National Park, which will be our final stop for today. It is one of the most beautiful attractions in Croatia and showcases a wonderful natural landscape and breathtaking waterfalls.

The final day of the tour will take us from Skradin to Sibenik. Sibenik is one of the most interesting cities on the coast of Dalmatia. There are many things to do and see on this fairytale-like island, from exploring Sibenik Old Town, which is built on a hill with more than 2,800 steps, to relaxing on wonderful beaches such as Banj Beach. One of the most visited attractions here is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St. Jacob's Cathedral. Referred to as one of the most significant and beautiful architectural achievements in Croatia, its construction lasted more than a hundred years. Built during the 15th and 16th centuries, the structure was made entirely out of stone. One site not to be missed within this glorious building is the baptistery. Here, an exquisitely carved ceiling and large font supported by three angels can be seen. Other attractions that can be visited include St. John's Fort, which is the largest and highest fortress in Sibenik, and the unique monument of St. Nicholas Fortress, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As for nightlife there are many types of venues to choose from such as high energy clubs, cocktail bars and quiet cafes.
