On its promenade are many cafes, shops and changing rooms as well as live entertainment at its bars and taverns for all to enjoy during evenings and late nights. It is a popular destination for all boaters who anchor at the sheltered anchorage nearby to enjoy swimming or water sports activities in crystal-clear waters with eateries open throughout the day.
Visiting Askeli Beach
Askeli Beach is situated amphitheatrically at the mouth of a hill that is surrounded by rich vegetation. Its spectacular panoramic scenery combines homonymous pine trees with crystal-clear Aegean waters amid a large golden sandy and pebbly beach. The beach is an ideal location for families with children and non-swimmers given its transparent shallow waters, a lifeguard on site and many lounges and huts to relax on. Known as the busiest out of all beaches on the island, it becomes particularly crowded during the hot and dry summer season from June to September when temperatures reach 88°F (31°C).
With waters that gradually deepen the further one goes out and with sea temperatures rising to an average of 79.3°F (26°C), the beach is perfect to swim and snorkel in pleasantly warm waters. Boaters can anchor at ease at the deeper parts of the sea with a sandy and seagrass seabed that has a good hold. The bay is also very well protected from the northerly winds with only a swell that enters from the southeast. With many boats only anchored at the deepest of waters, water sports activities can be thoroughly enjoyed with activities such as jet skiing, parasailing, paragliding, water skiing and windsurfing being readily available. The beach also has a diving centre for underwater sports lovers to travel out to neighbouring bays, islands and islets to discover the abundant underwater life.
