Ermioni is a charming town with a strong island vibe and a lengthy history, particularly in antiquity. It is located in the Peloponnese region of southern mainland Greece, on the peninsula of Argolida. The village is situated on a hillside with sea views and is constructed like an amphitheater around a bay. In front of the village is a natural harbor, and to the north and south of the port are two attractive windmills. The cape of Bitsi is a lovely, forested location to the east of the modern town. It is an open-air archaeological site containing the ruins of the old castle of the city, and is the perfect place for a stroll. With numerous beaches nearby, this small seaside village makes for a perfect family getaway.
The Beaches and Waters Around Ermioni
Anchoring is permitted within the Ermioni Bay area, the seabed is a combination of sand, rocks, and mud and holds well in a depth of 3-4 meters, it is well protected from all winds, with the exception of winds from the east. The Bisti Beach is a busy sandy beach with crystal-clear, tranquil seas bordered by palm trees. There are sunbeds and umbrellas available on the beach and among the trees for those who wish to escape the hot sun’s rays. 9 km south of the port, is the bay of Kouverta, it is a large sheltered area perfect for swimming and relaxing in tranquil surroundings. The attractive beach with crystal clear waters and natural beauty is a stunning setting to be admired and photographed. Traveling 14 km northeast of Ermioni is Lepitsa Beach with golden sand, a smooth gentle entrance to shallow sapphire blue waters, during the summer months the area is popular with families with children. Trees give natural shade to this stunning beach. The tourism season in the area starts in May and ends in October, with the peak months falling between June through to September. During the peak months of July and August, temperatures reach 89°F (32°C) and sea temperatures reach 78°F (26°C).
