Poros Island is a picturesque Greek island located in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf, just a short boat ride from Athens. It is made up of two distinct islands, Sphaira and Kalavria and a bridge that connects them over a small channel. Sphaira is a volcanic rock formation and is located on the southwestern side of the island, while Kalavria is covered in a stunning pine forest in the southeastern side. General Conditions and Beaches

The Island is covered with scented pine tree forests and thriving greenery, offering guests an unforgettable boating experience. The most popular time to visit the island is during the summer months, from June to September. The weather is warm and sunny with an average temperature of 84°F (29°C), and  an average sea temperature of 71.6-75.2°F (22-24°C), perfect for water activities such as swimming and boating. The island's beaches and tourist attractions are also at their busiest during this time, with many visitors flocking to enjoy its natural beauty.  Some of the beaches are perfect for families with young children and have many amenities and shallow waters such as Askeli Beach, and some tend to be more secluded and have deeper water such as Kalavria Beach. The island offers both sandy and pebbly beaches, sandy areas are mainly located on the southern shores of the island and the rockier locations may require sea shoes. The region is good for diving with its diverse marine life and fascinating underworld. There are many diving facilities both for novice and experienced divers.

Anchoring is permitted and the waters are generally calm, especially on the west side of the island, where the hidden and secluded bays are located. There are many beaches where visitors can swim the Aegean Seas crystal-clear water. Love Bay and Russian Bay, on the eastern side of the island, are popular anchorage spots for boaters due to their secluded locations. Neorion Bay is a popular destination for water sports and has a lively atmosphere and sandy beach. Situated on the western side of the island Monastiri Beach is a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by stunning pine trees, and offers visitors an idyllic spot for swimming.
