Porto Heli

Porto Cheli is a unique destination in an indescribable setting of natural beauty and refined luxury that offers divine eateries overlooking the sparkling waters, lively nightlife, many secluded coves and the town beach to swim and partake in water activities.

Porto Cheli, sometimes written as Porto Heli, is a quaint but luxury-filled coastal town in Greece, located in the southeastern part of Argolida on the Peloponnese coast. It was once known as a quiet fishing village and is today a tourist destination with a cosmopolitan ambience, frequently visited by sailors during the summer months. Among these visitors are members of Greece's Royal Family as well as many other celebrities.

The stunning beachfront scenery of the town is accentuated by its diverse landscapes, which are bordered by the shimmering Aegean Sea and the neighboring islands of Spetses and Hydra, which serve as a backdrop. The town is equally acclaimed for its many restaurants and buzzing nightlife with many bars that overlook the harbor and turquoise seas. Also on offer is a variety of water sports that can be enjoyed in the placid waters alongside beautiful beaches for sunbathing. It is an ideal place for visitors wishing to escape overcrowded tourist destinations.

Visiting the Waters of Porto Cheli

The town of Porto Cheli is positioned on a low hill, home to luxury villas and 5 star hotels but amongst this richness is spectacular vegetation, including vineyards, olive trees, and cypresses that produce local fresh ingredients to make olive oil and wine. Whilst there is a vast variety of different culinary experiences from small local taverns to restaurants that boast spectacular views of the sea, the very best restaurants serve freshly caught seafood, meat from local farms that are only cooked with locally picked gourmet ingredients. The most prominent port in the town is Porto Heli, and it is favored by all sailors due to its large marina that allows sailors to moor and anchor nearby. The harbor is very well sheltered, and protected from winds blowing in from any direction. The waters are calm and flat, which makes water sports activities such as sup boarding, canoeing, kayaking, and water skiing enjoyable activities throughout the summer. Visitors can also experience wingsurfing which combines elements of windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing while holding onto an inflatable wing. Tourists can swim and snorkel in waters, which are shallow and progressively get deeper. Porto Cheli is also home to a few scuba diving clubs for those that wish to explore its rich underwater sea life and flora in crystal clear visibility.

Porto Cheli has tourism all-year round, with boaters frequenting visiting in winters and summers, as the harbor also offers winter mooring services. The town itself invites most tourists during the summer season between June to September, but the months of July and August are by far the busiest with both locals and international tourists exploring the area. The average high temperature during the peak season is 94°F (35°C) making it the ideal time to sunbathe on the beach and swim in the warm waters that reach temperatures of 84°F (29°C).

Porto Cheli Beach is the only named beach in this town over a long stretch of sandy and rocky shores and crystal-clear waters that overlook the port. Just beyond the town lies Ververoda Bay, which is home to Ververoda Lake. Locals come here to fish, the waters are believed to have medicinal properties, and water skiing takes place under shaded pine trees on aquamarine waters. On the entrance of Porto Bay are also a number of small coves where boaters can drop anchor and enjoy swimming in its deep blue waters.
