Panteli Bay is located on the east coast of Leros, one of the Greek Dodecanese islands in the Southern Aegean Sea. Surrounded by trees, coves and steep mountains, it is one of the most beautiful spots on the island. It is home to a small, pebbly beach with crystal clear, shallow waters. There are several stylish cafe-bars, restaurants and fish taverns in the bay from where the ancient Panagia Castle and the traditional windmills of Leros can be seen.
Anchorage and Waters of Panteli Bay
Panteli Bay has one of the most popular beaches on the island along with two piers for small boats in the center of the bay. On the east side of the beach is a small port where boats can moor. Boaters can also anchor in the outer part of the bay or moor by line to the shore with the sandy bottom providing good holding for anchors. The bay is sheltered and well protected from all winds except for the east and south winds. The average water temperature rises to 75°F (24°C) in summer providing a comfortable environment for swimming. The small beach is 5 meters wide and has crystal blue waters which are very shallow near the shoreline and ideal for families with small children. Panteli Bay welcomes the highest number of visitors during the summer months of May until September, with August being the most popular, when the sea water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
