The Heraklion Blue Cruise is a fascinating adventure, where tour members can discover many historic sights, sandy beaches and breathtaking natural scenery.

Explore Traditional Ways of Life, and Spectacular Scenery

On the first day of our tour we will travel from Heraklion to Hersonissos. The tour will depart at 4:00 pm from Heraklion which is the largest city within Crete and one of Greece’s major urban centers. It has grown throughout the centuries due to its Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman influences. There are many things to experience and discover here such as the church of Agios Titos, Venetian and Turkish fountains, The Heraklion Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Natural History to name a few! We will then visit Hersonissos, which is located in the northeast of the island. The seaside port town is a hive of activity with mountainous landscapes, pristine coastlines, cultural sites and natural treasures. Here there are many things to do and see from sightseeing to taking a stroll through the quaint fishing villages and enjoying the many restaurants, shops, and bars.

Today we will be traveling from Hersonissos to Agios Nikolaos. Agios Nikolaos is the capital town of Lassithi and the crown jewel at this location is Voulismeni, the bottomless salt lake. The narrow channel of water connects the lake to the sea and its surrounding scenery of red rocks and lush trees is also just as impressive. The city has many interesting Archaeological sites on offer along with Natural History museums, Byzantine churches, a well-organized marina, well decorated pedestrian streets, authentic villages and traditional squares with many lively cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

Today's trip will take us from Agios Nikolaos to Mirabello Bay. Mirabello Bay lies on the eastern side of Crete, it is the largest bay of the Greek islands and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean Sea. This bay boasts crystal clear waters and a wonderful beach, perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. Although many tourists visit this area during the summer months, it has a lovely relaxing atmosphere filled with amenities such as a range of water sports, sunbeds and beach bars to enjoy. &nbsp;We will finish off our day by visiting the town of Agios Nikolaos which overlooks the stunning Mirabello Bay, the town is the perfect combination of tradition and beauty and there are many entertaining venues to discover.

Today the tour will guide us from Mirabello Bay to Sitia. Sitia is home to some of the most friendly people in Crete, who pride themselves in keeping their town clean and tidy. Although it may be one of the least visited places in Crete, there are many things to see such as monasteries , archaeological sites, a sandy beach and spectacular bays. Sitia is full of narrow streets to explore where tour members can soak up the authentic way of life, visit the Folk Museum and Venetian Fort, discover Roman ruins and explore the town's Archaeological Museum.

Today we will travel from Sitia to Kolokitha Island. This small island is situated opposite the Peninsula of Spinalonga, 12 kilometers north of Agios Nikolaos. Here tour members will find one of the most stunning beaches within Crete, boasting clear blue waters and lovely white sand. Along with beaches there are also windmills and a small canal built by the French army in 1897 to see. &nbsp;The island faces the stunning Agios Loukas beach, also known as Kolokytha Island where tour members can witness stunning views, abandoned farms, the Byzantine chapel of Saint Fokas, ruins of the early Christian basilica of Kolokytha and many secluded coves.

The tour will take us from Kolokitha Island to Hersonissos. Firstly we will revist Agios Nikolaos where tour members can explore more of the archaeological sites on offer, take a leisurely walk through the lovely streets or sit back and unwind with a cold drink whilst admiring the town's spectacular views. After exploring Agios Nikolaos our day will conclude at Hersonissos where sandy beaches are complemented perfectly by interesting ancient ruins. There are many things to explore here including The Lychnostatis Open Air Museum, The aquarium which showcases local sea creatures and many traditional cafes can also be found, all of which have a friendly and welcoming atmoshpere.

Today we will travel from Hersonissos to Dia Island. Evidence suggests Dia Island used to be occupied during ancient times, however today it is an uninhabited island surrounded by small rocky inlets. Its shape resembles a giant lizard, and legends suggest that a giant lizard tried to destroy the island of Crete, but Zeus turned it into stone with a thunderbolt, therefore creating Dia island. It is a protected area due to its endemic plants, endangered Monk seals and it is also a vital nesting and breeding site for seabirds and falcons. &nbsp;This small oasis is surrounded by crystal clear sea waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling and there are a few small, secluded beach areas scattered along the island's coastline to enjoy.

On the final day of the tour, we will depart from Heraklion at 9:00 am. Heraklion is the most popular region of Crete and here Knossos Palace &amp; Phaistos Palace can be found which are two of the most significant historic monuments in the region. Other important attractions include Koules fortress, the Venetian port, Turkish and Venetian fountains, Venetian buildings, the Archaeological Museum, the Historical Museum and the Museum of Natural History. As for beaches, the northern and southern coasts of the region are scattered with some brilliant beaches, such as Matala Beach, Agia Pelagia and Malia Beach. There are also many food markets in this area where tour members can purchase many different products such as Cretan olive oil, raki, local wine, honey and locally grown herbs.
