Charming Islands, Wonderful Beaches and Rich Historical Monuments

Our tour will start in the unique city of Zadar. Referred to as an atmospheric time machine and described as an open-air museum, it showcases brilliant architecture and cultural heritage of the eastern Adriatic coast. This fabulous city was once the capital of Dalmatia. It is full of romance and spirit, home to a friendly community and modern creations that are full of diversity. Within Zadar, there's lots to see and experience, including exploring Zadar's central square, witnessing fascinating art, visiting optical illusion museums, churches, and historical locations. As for its nightlife, many relaxed and humble venues can be found. The winding ancient streets of the Old Town are full of bars and restaurants, all showcasing incredible views of the Adriatic Sea. For those who prefer something more livelier, nightclubs can be found on the eastern side of the Old Town.

Today's adventure will guide us from Zadar to Ugljan Island. Evidence suggests that Ugljan Island has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, and today it is one of the most densely populated islands in Croatia. Also referred to as the green island, this magnificent area is covered with dense Mediterranean vegetation, vineyards, fig and olive trees, stunning beaches, hidden bays, and crystal-clear sea waters. There are several villages to explore here, the most popular being Lukoran, Sutomiscica, Poljana, Preko, Kali, Kukljica, and Ugljan, all of which showcase charming stone houses, narrow streets, and spectacular views. As for its beaches, there are many to choose from; some are more crowded and some are hidden and secluded. The most popular include Mostir Beach, Luka Beach, Velika Sabusa, Jaz Beach, and Batalaza Beach. For those wishing to explore historical sights, there are many monuments and ancient remains from Greek and Roman times to discover. The most popular attractions include the Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian, the Ancient Christian Memorial, St. Hippolytus and Cassian Church, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Califfi Castle. We will conclude our day by visiting Ugljan Island’s Sutomiscica village. Located in a protected bay on the east coast of Ugljan, it showcases tradition and a more natural and relaxing way of life. There are several interesting sights to explore here, such as the family-run Olive Island Marina, a restaurant serving culinary specialties, the Lantana baroque holiday house, which dates back to the 17th century, and the town church of St. Gregory. Sutomiscica also has several wonderful beaches to enjoy, the most popular and picturesque being Plaza Sutomiscica.

Today's journey will lead us from Ugljan Island to Molat Island. Molat Island is a small, secluded, and beautiful area located off the coast of Zadar. It is believed that King Edward VIII visited the island on his Adriatic cruises in 1939. It is a perfect area to enjoy a relaxing day, surrounded by nature, sandy beaches, culture, and rich history. There are 3 small villages on the island: Molat, Brgulje, and Zapuntel. Molat is located in the southern part, Zapuntel in the northern part of the island, and Brgulje in the center. The main settlement is Brgulje. This charming little village is filled with narrow alleyways, stone houses, restaurants, bars, and a wonderful harbor area. Zapuntel and Molat are smaller settlements both of which have fewer amenities; however, a restaurant, a port, and a few beaches can be found at these locations. Tour members can find plenty of things to do here, such as swimming, snorkeling, and diving in crystal-clear waters and sunbathing on wonderful pebbled, rocky, or sandy beaches. For our adventurous guests, there are many hiking and cycling trails to discover, with many leading to breathtaking hidden coves and bays.

On today's tour we will travel from Molat Island to Ilovik Island. Ilovik Island is nicknamed the Flower Island due to its lush vegetation, especially pine and olive trees, grape vines, and oleander plants. The island is car-free and very easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. It has a peaceful atmosphere and is a great place to relax away from the busy crowds. Due to the island's simple and natural ways of life, the beaches here do not have any facilities or amenities, so be sure to take with you everything that you may need. The most popular locations are the sandy Parzine Beach on the south side of the island, where an ancient shipwreck has been discovered, and the pebbled Parknu Beach on the west side of the island. There are also many hidden beaches dotted all along the coastline to enjoy. The only settlement on the island is the small village of Ilovik, where lovely stone houses and the 19th-century Churches of St. Peter and St. Paul, can be seen. For those who enjoy hiking, partaking in a climb to ‘Did Hill’ is a popular activity. The hill is situated 96 meters high and provides breathtaking views over the whole of Ilovik as well as the neighboring islands. Amenities are quite limited here but there are several restaurants serving meat and locally caught seafood, along with a small supermarket.

Today's journey will guide us from Ilovik Island to Losinj Island. Losinj Island is situated in the Kvarner Gulf, it is a popular destination for holidaymakers due to its wonderful natural reserves, rich historical sites, and fabulous beaches. The island is formed from dolomite rocks and chalk limestone. Along with over 1100 plant species, 230 medical herbs, and exotic plants including banana, lemon and eucalyptus. Here, tour members can find the Museum of Apoxyomenos, dedicated to one fantastic exhibit. The bronze statue of an athlete that was discovered underwater by a Belgian tourist, this piece of art is an impressive statue representing the story of an athlete of perfect physical proportions. Another impressive sight is the Losinj Aromatic Garden. This beautiful garden is full of scents and smells from over 250 wild plants. Tour members can also admire unique garden decor and a warm and welcoming restaurant that produces homemade food and drinks. To conclude our tour for today, we will visit one of the main settlements on the island. Losinj Island / Veli Losinj, it has a chilled atmosphere, where many luxurious villas and well-manicured gardens can be seen. After a day of exploring, there are a variety of taverns with live music, vibrant beach bars, nightclubs, and cozy bars to enjoy.

Today's journey will lead us from Losinj Island to Rab Island. Rab Island is described by many as one of the greenest and most magical islands in the Adriatic. Its southwestern coast is covered in wonderful pine forests and spectacular sandy beaches, and its northeast coast has some charming little villages and high mountainous cliffs. Along with its magnificent natural beauty, its climate differs from mainland Greece due to three ridges that protect the area from cold winds blowing from the nearby Velebit mountains. The main settlement on the island is Rab Town, where many attractions can be found, such as the old town walls, well-preserved 15th-century buildings, and many churches, including St. Mary’s Church, the Church of St. John, the Church of St. Andrew, and the Franciscan Monastery of St. Euphemia. As for its beaches, Rab is home to many magnificent shores, especially around the town of Lopar. The most popular is Paradise Beach, due to its sandy terrain, pristine conditions, and shallow waters.

Today's adventure will take us from Rab Island to Olib Island. Olib Island is home to lush vegetation and an abundance of creatures, such as pheasants and rabbits. It showcases beautiful sandy lagoons, hidden coves, and irresistible Adriatic charm. The largest bay and port, which is also called Olib, is situated on the western part of the island and is the only village settlement. It has been inhabited since Roman times and houses a few interesting historic landmarks to explore. In the east lies Slatinica Port. The entire island is surrounded by several hidden bays with shallow waters that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. This peaceful and not overly busy island is a no-car zone easily accessible by boat and is a favored destination for boaters, sailors, and fishermen alike. The larger bays within the island’s perimeters include Slatina Bay, Slatinica Bay, and Sveti Nikola Bay. Although there are no amenities at these locations, their extraordinary turquoise seas and pristine water clarity are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and sea kayaking. Port Olib, also known as the Port of Galib, is located near the main town on the west side of Olib Island in a wide bay. &nbsp;Within walking distance of the port tour members can find cafes, bars, and restaurants.

On the final day of the tour, we will sail from Olib Island to Zadar. Zadar is a historic town home to many Roman ruins, medieval churches, and wonderful museums. When exploring, tour members can find many magnificent sights, such as the Zadar Roman Forum. It is believed to have been constructed between the 1st century BC and the 3rd century AD and was once the heart of religious life, with the Church of St. Donat dominating one side. Tour members can witness the ruins of temples, a Roman column, altars, and hollows that were used during sacrificial deaths. Within Zadar Old Town, Croatian history and modern creations can be seen on every corner. On the western corner of the peninsula, Zadar's outstanding Sea Organ can be found. Created by a local architect, this experimental musical attraction is situated under marble stairs that go down into the sea. It has a system of pipes and whistles that create sounds from the sea's waves and air pressure. The architect also created a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down. The Greeting to the Sun is one of Zadar's most popular attractions. The 22-meter-wide circle lies on the pavement, filled with 300 multilayered glass plates that collect the sun’s energy during the day, producing a magical light show at sunset, fulfilling the aim of simulating the solar system.
