Historic Monuments, Cultural Heritage and Natural Treasures

Our journey will start at Zadar, a historic town home to many Roman ruins, medieval churches, and wonderful museums. When exploring Zadar tour members can find a variety of magnificent sights especially within Zadar’s Old Town, where Croatian history and modern creations can be seen on every corner. On the western corner of the peninsula, we will visit Zadar's outstanding Sea Organ. Created by a local architect, this experimental musical attraction is situated under marble stairs that go down into the sea. It has a system of pipes and whistles that create sounds from the sea's waves and air pressure. The architect also created a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down. The Greeting to the Sun which is another of Zadar's most popular attractions. The 22-meter-wide circle lies on the pavement, filled with 300 multilayered glass plates that collect the sun’s energy during the day, producing a magical light show at sunset, fulfilling the aim of simulating the solar system.

Today's tour will take us from Zadar to Dugi Otok. Dugi Otok, is known for its relaxing ambiance, vineyards, and orchards. Here, the spectacular Saharun Beach can also be found. Often referred to as having Caribbean characteristics, this beach has a breathtaking combination of white sand and crystal-clear waters, surrounded by scented pine trees, making it perfect for those looking for a chilled-out morning. Continuing on with our tour, we will visit Telascica Bay (Telascica Natural Park) in the southern part of Dugi Otok. It is referred to by many as one of the safest, most beautiful, and largest natural ports in the Adriatic. This bay is well known for its coves, several small islands, and magnificent cliffs, all of which lie on a 69-kilometer indented coastline. Over 400 plant species, as well as numerous rare and endemic plants, have been found here, along with a fascinating underwater world of 250 plants and 300 animal organisms, including the endangered red coral and the carnivorous sponge. We will now visit Dugi Otok's Sali. This lovely area is the largest settlement on the island, which stretches over two bays. Tour members can find facilities such as a doctor's office, a post office, a cash machine, several shops, and a reading room where visitors can borrow a wide variety of books in several different languages. Showcasing its impressive thousand-year-old olive groves, this region represents a unique ecological area. The cultural heritage of Sali can be seen within sacred buildings such as the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as the churches of St. Roch and St. Nicholas.

Moving on, the journey will now lead us from Zadar to Kornati National Park. Kornati National Park is a collection of approximately 89 islands and islets, creating a labyrinth that is perfect for sailing. Tour members will witness a nautical paradise with breathtaking scenery, nature, and beauty. We will now visit Ravni Zakan, an uninhabited island within Kornati Islands National Park. It boasts unspoiled beauty with pristine landscapes, clear sea waters, and sheltered bays. Two restaurants can be found on the island, many paths for exploring, and a rich underwater life perfect for swimming and snorkeling. We will now move on to Zlarin Island, which is a small, unspoiled island, renowned for its pristine nature, red corals, secluded beaches, and rich historic sites such as the Chapels of St. Roche and Simon. Due to Zlarin’s geographical location, it holds an important role as the St. Anthony Channel gatekeeper and the guardian of Sibenik. It is most famous for its unique culture based upon its harvesting of red corals and processing them into jewelry and ornaments. Hiking, cycling, and rock climbing are also popular activities, with enjoyable trails that pass through spectacular viewpoints, olive groves, and vineyards. Our final destination for today is Tijat Island. It is another uninhabited island that is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. It boasts a rugged landscape with many hidden bays, beaches, and impressive vegetation. There are several sights to see here, such as a large metal cross that stands tall at 119 meters. This monumental cross is an important landmark for sailors and visitors alike. Other attractions include the wonderful beaches of Trstevica, Plava, and Imperial Beach, all of which are organized with several amenities.

Today's journey will guide us from Kornati National Park to Primosten. Primosten is a picturesque seaside town located in the south of Croatia. It is situated in the middle of the Adriatic coast between the popular towns of Sibenik and Trogir. The magnificent circular old town of Primosten was once an island up until the 16th century. The settlement was guarded by stone towers, walls, and a moveable bridge that connected it to the mainland. After the bridge was replaced by an embankment, the town became part of the mainland and therefore became a peninsula. It is one of the top holiday destinations in Croatia, attracting visitors with its unique architecture and spectacular scenery. There is lots to see and explore here, such as wandering through the ancient streets, visiting the Church of St. George, admiring the Our Lady of Loretto landmark on Gaj Hill, or visiting wonderful beaches such as Raduca Beach. This small town also has a vibrant nightlife. Tour members can find a variety of venues, from high-energy clubs to relaxing cocktail bars and restaurants.

Today's adventure will lead us from Primosten to Skradin and Vrgada Island. The small town of Skradin is situated in a protected bay on the Krka River, where freshwater mixes with salt water from the Adriatic Sea. The most popular attractions here for tour members to explore are the picturesque harbor and the enchanting old town. Skradin is also referred to as the gateway to Krka National Park, which showcases a wonderful natural landscape and breathtaking waterfalls. We will now visit Vrgada Island, which is an oasis of pristine nature, fresh air, and clear sea waters. Some of the most popular sights on the island include the 9th-century Church of St. Andrew, the remains of a Byzantine fortress from the 6th century, the ruins of the Damiani Castle dating back to the 17th century, and the 16th-century parish Church of the Holy Trinity. There is also one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic located here, the sandy beach of Podbrizi, also referred to as the Golden or Red Beach. Moving on, we will now visit Murter Island, home to the four towns of Murter, Betina, Tisno, and Jezera. This destination showcases an abundance of beauty in its clear waters, old olive trees, impressive climate, pine-scented forests, and hidden, secluded coves. There are many small, spectacular beaches and bays to explore all around the island, along with various historic sites dating back to ancient Roman times. Our final destination for today is Zut Island, which is the second-largest island in the Kornati archipelago. The island is uninhibited and a natural paradise covered with Mediterranean vegetation such as olive groves and fig trees. When exploring the island, tour members can witness long stretches of old dry-stone walls and an abundance of nature. For our adventurous guests, hiking to the 155-meter-tall peak of Zut Island is a favorite activity, and at the top, a spectacular view of the Kornati Archipelago can be seen.

Today we will travel from Skradin, or Vrgada Island, to Sibenik. Sibenik is one of the most interesting cities on the coast of Dalmatia. There are many things to do and see, from exploring Sibenik Old Town, which is built up a hill with more than 2,800 steps, to visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as St. Jacob's Cathedral. Referred to as one of the most significant and beautiful architectural achievements in Croatia, the cathedral's construction lasted more than a hundred years. Other attractions that we will visit include St. John's Fort, which is the largest and highest fortress in Sibenik, and the unique monument of St. Nicholas Fortress, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The last two must-see attractions that we will now visit are Fortress Barone, where tour members can experience history through sounds, and scenes from the 17th century, and St. Michael's Fortress, which lies on a rocky hill with a beautiful view of the Sibenik archipelago. The final destination on today's tour is Vodice, a beautiful coastal town that lies on the Sibenik Riviera. Strolling along the picturesque promenade, tour members will discover many restaurants, bars, and cafes. The old town, together with the marina, creates a wonderful tourist center, and a 4-kilometer-long promenade connects the town center to beaches and various settlements. There are many attractions to find here, such as churches, interesting stone alleyways, the picturesque waterfront promenade, pretty squares with taverns, the fabulous marina, and, of course, many spectacular beaches. Some of the most popular sights to visit include the baroque parish church of Svetog Kriza, built in 1746, the Coric tower from 1646, and the Sveti Kriz. The most popular beaches in Vodice include the main beach of Male Vrulje, also known as Plaza Hangar, and the blue-flagged beach of Plava Plaza, which showcases pristine waters and a unique landscape.

We will now sail from Sibenik to Zadar. Zadar is referred to as an atmospheric time machine and described as an open-air museum, it showcases brilliant architecture and cultural heritage of the eastern Adriatic coast. This fabulous city was once the capital of Dalmatia. It is full of romance and spirit, home to a friendly community and modern creations that are full of diversity. Within Zadar, there's lots to see and experience, including exploring Zadar's central square, witnessing fascinating art, visiting optical illusion museums, churches, and historical locations. One sight worth visiting is the Zadar Roman Forum. It is believed to have been constructed between the 1st century BC and the 3rd century AD and was once the heart of religious life, with the Church of St. Donat dominating one side. Tour members can witness the ruins of temples, a Roman column, altars, and hollows that were used during sacrificial deaths.

The final day of the tour will conclude in the unique city of Zadar. As the biggest city and cultural center of northern Dalmatia, it is one of the most visited areas within Croatia. Tour members will have the opportunity to explore this wonderful place in more detail. Many of the main attractions have already been included on our tour; however, some other sites that may be appealing include Zadar old town, the Zadar City Gates and Zadar Cathedral. The list is endless in regards to sightseeing on this wonderful island. As for nightlife in Zadar, many relaxed and humble venues can be found. The winding ancient streets of the Old Town are full of bars and restaurants, all showcasing incredible views of the Adriatic Sea. For those who prefer something more livelier, nightclubs can be found on the eastern side of the Old Town.
