Also spelled ‘Vathy’, this picturesque town has been the main harbor of the island since the 16th century. The town’s 2000 residents fiercely protect their cultural heritage, ensuring that all historical Venetian buildings are preserved, much to the delight of visitors. It is also a prime destination for sailors, who flock to the scenic town for its calm, protected waters hidden away in a deep, narrow bay on the south side of the island.

Upon arrival, vessels are greeted by the mesmerizing sight of colorful Venetian houses cascading down the hillside and the gentle rhythms of island life. The Best Beaches Near Vathy

Ithaca is home to some of the most picturesque beaches in the Ionian Sea, and Vathy is located in close proximity to many of them. The water temperatures in the area range from around 72°F (22°C) in the early summer months to 79°F (26°C) at the peak of summer.
